See who's made The Leicestershire Rich List 2013 By Leicester Mercury | Posted: November 05, 2013

A magazine profiling Leicestershire's wealthiest people is free inside today's Leicester Mercury. The Leicestershire Rich List 2013 contains a comprehensive list of the richest in the county. The 40-page glossy publication explains how a range of high-profile and not so well-known business leaders and landowners have made their fortunes. Mercury Business Editor Ian Griffin said: “Among the most celebrated are Dunelm founders the Adderley family, building tycoon David Wilson and haulage magnate Hilary Devey. However, there are many other wealthy individuals who do not attract the same level of publicity. This magazine is aimed at highlighting these people’s achievements and background.” We the full Rich List below:

…16. WINIFRED 'FREDDIE' LINNETT

Wealth: £118m Lives in: Melton Mowbray Sector: Family wealth

Winifred ‘Freddie’ Linnett, like her cousin Hugh Murphy, is a major shareholder of Charles Street Buildings Group, the property group that grew out of her uncle’s business, Murphy Bros. Freddie is a director of the company, but has no active role in it and therefore a lower estimated wealth than Hugh, who oversees its commercial portfolio, the bulk of which is based in the East Midlands. Freddie married Mike Linnett at Stapleford Hall in 1995 and lives in nearby Melton Mowbray. Despite property prices in Leicestershire remaining comparatively stable compared with national trends, they are a long way off the pre-recession average. With assets exceeding £500 million, Charles Street Buildings Group’s future is secure. Custodians of Thurmaston Industrial Estate for almost 50 years, Charles Street Buildings has transformed the site. Current occupiers include Costco, Qualvis and Advance Tapes.

(Remark: The list starts with 1. VICHAI SRIVADDHANAPRABHA Wealth: £1 billion. The list stops at the unusual number 97. PETER HARRIS, Wealth: Lower-tier millionaire (up to £3m). Obviously the McCann's in 2013, with their earnings from Madeleine's Fund and from Kate McCann's book 'Madeleine', will be under the Top 100 of Leicestershire Lower-tier millionaires by now.)
