20 Oct. 2013DailyStar, Royal cover up: Police censor Jimmy Savile interview transcript :“PAEDOPHILE Jimmy Savile named the royal family in his bombshell interview with police but any mention of them was removed from the released transcripts. The papers from a 2009 police quiz were released last week following a seven-month battle by the Daily Star Sunday. But the 26 pages - which exposed the evil pervert as a bully and a liar - came with 96 redactions (crossings out). Today we can reveal the documents had been vetted by Buckingham Palace - and that the serial sex attacker's royal connections were removed. One reference Savile made about a cousin of the Queen was included in an internal police report released in January. But on Tuesday, when Surrey Police published the interview transcripts, there was no mention of her. Other references to royalty were also seemingly erased - and during our fight to obtain the records, police let slip Buckingham Palace's involvement. Tony Smith, the force's information access manager, made the reference as he explained why it was taking so long to release the documents. He told us that, as well as going to a senior police chief outside the force, the papers had gone “to Buckingham Palace to consider…because they are mentioned in it”. There is no mention of Buckingham Palace or anyone from the royal family in the edited scripts. And Savile - given an OBE by the Queen in 1972, followed by a knighthood in 1990 - was someone who liked to name-drop his royal connections. The presenter, who died in 2011 aged 84, two years after Surrey's bungled probe into sex abuse claims, often boasted of his friendship with Prince Charles. He was also a confidant of Princess Diana and claimed to have helped the Duchess of York as her marriage to Prince Andrew fell apart. Crucially, in his 1974 autobiography Savile boasted of his friendship with the same cousin of the Queen he mentioned in the 2009 police interview. Under caution, he told officers the first time he visited a Surrey school where he was said to have abused girls was with Princess Alexandra for a garden party. If detectives had investigated that reference by looking at his memoirs they would have discovered he was someone who preyed on vulnerable young girls. He wrote: “Princess Alex is a patron of a hostel for girls in care. At this place I'm a cross between a term-time boyfriend and a fixer of special trips out.” The 76-year-old widow of Sir Angus Ogilvy is the Duke of Kent's sister and a granddaughter of King George V. Our investigations suggest Savile's mentions of the princess are among ten lines of blacked-out text from pages five to six of the transcripts. The revelation is likely to spark further criticism of Surrey Police's 29-month Savile investigation which resulted in a prolific paedophile never facing justice. But it also raises questions as to whether the force took out the reference to Princess Alexandra to avoid further embarrassment or whether the royals insisted it be excluded. We have been told that 19 of 32 redactions made to Savile's answers were on the grounds they contained “personal information”. One answer given by Savile had around ten lines of text blacked out for that reason. The other 13 redactions were made because they contained information sensitive to criminal investigations. And 64 redactions were made to comments or questions from the two female detectives who quizzed Savile over allegations from three women. Surrey Police has said its decision to release the edited papers was made “following extensive consultation which included speaking to the victims” and the Association of Chief Police Officers. It made no mention of consulting Buckingham Palace. The Daily Star Sunday has asked the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) to investigate the redactions and consider the arguments any outside bodies made. As we revealed in May, Government papers showing links between Savile and PrinceCharles, 64, were redacted. An extract from the files - relating to Margaret Thatcher's dealings with Savile - was blacked out by the Cabinet Office to hide his claim that Charles had agreed to be a patron of one of his charities. It was reinstated after an appeal by the Daily Star Sunday. A Palace spokesman said: “We would not comment on police or Freedom of Information matters.”

Peter Jukes talks to Alastair Morgan, who hopes the decades-long cover-up of his brother’s death may finally be revealed. It is Britain’s biggest unsolved murder, and described by a senior police officer as “the pivotal crime of the times.” It plunges into the heart of what former prime minister Gordon Brown called the “criminal-media nexus” exposed by the hacking and bribes scandal that engulfed Rupert Murdoch’s British tabloid titles. Only on this occasion the crimes went well beyond privacy intrusion and corrupt payments, to a brutal killing….”

Because of Jaconelli’s status as a senior Conservative politician, prominent businessman and Mayor, it has been alleged that North Yorkshire Police left him and his entourage alone, even though it was aware of his offending. 28 Mar. 2013This Darkness must end (Blog), Jimmy Savile: Who was protecting him for decades, and why?: “When the Jimmy Savile scandal broke in late 2012, I wasn't particularly interested. A sleazy old DJ and TV presenter groping young girls - highly unpleasant, but not exactly big news as far as I could see. But then all the pictures and stories started to emerge involving Savile and members of the Royal Family, as well as various prime ministers, and even the top Catholic clergyman in Britain…. Former Mayor of London Ken Livingston, on London's LBC Radio during the height of Savile scandal, said quite clearly that MI5 had been secretly filming the sexual abuse of children at Kincora Boys Home in Belfast, in order to entrap (and thereby be able to blackmail and gain leverage over) certain Ulster politicians. There have been rumours and investigations about this place for years. No one's disputing that abuse went on there. So if untrue, why would a shrewd politician like Livingston risk his career by making such a claim? And if it's true, this means that security services haven't just been covering up abuse like Savile's (for whatever reason), they've also been organising it….” Radio at →Mayor Ken Livingston about MI5 involvement.

source: spotlightonabuse.files.wordpress.com/2013/03/lambeth1.jpg; original claim sex chamber at lambeth police heaqdquarter 26 Mar. 2013Mirror, Paedo MP cover-up claim: Top cop removed from sex abuse probe after naming politicians as suspects: “The officer suddenly found himself booted off the case and put on a disciplinary after revealing politicians were among the suspects. Tasked with flushing out paedophiles preying on vulnerable youngsters at children’s homes, Detective Chief Inspector Clive Driscoll relished the challenge. But the officer suddenly found himself booted off the case and put on a disciplinary after revealing politicians were named among the suspects. At least one of the figures is understood to have been an MP. And former Labour councillor Anna Tapsell claims she was visited by a police chief to “warn her off” after she raised concerns that detectives would not properly investigate allegations of paedophile activity in care homes. Mr Driscoll launched his probe into child sex abuse claims in the South London borough of Lambeth in 1998. But he claims Scotland Yard began meddling as soon as the politicians were named. The officer, now spearheading the fresh investigation into teenager Stephen Lawrence’s murder, said: “I was unhappy with the interference of some senior officers who did not appear to have a logical connection to my investigation into child sex abuse in Lambeth. There were allegations made by several people that named politicians had been involved but I never had a chance to investigate them because I was moved before I could do so.” Asked if there was a cover-up of child sexual abuse in Lambeth by Scotland Yard, he said: “You would need an investigation to establish that.” And asked if it was true that a file of evidence naming politicians as suspects and others was lost, he replied: “I handed the file to an officer and I have no knowledge where it went after that.”….She [Tapsell] said: “When I learned that Clive was being removed, not only from the case but also from Lambeth, I realised that the Met were caving in to political pressure that was far more powerful than Lambeth Council. I was aware of allegations about an MP and the Met’s failure to act on those allegations and its apparent desire to silence those who called for them to be investigated fully was deeply shocking to me. Council employees who tried to expose staff they suspected of sexual abuse were sidelined and ignored. At the same time alleged perpetrators were moved or allowed to leave for financial misconduct or other misdemeanours, instead of for the abuse….” Ms Tapsell added: “I doubt whether I was the only person to be visited by a senior police officer in an attempt to warn me off. I had cast doubt on the Met’s inclination to get to the bottom of the paedophile activity within Lambeth’s care system. It had outraged a high ranking officer who had spoken at that meeting. That resulted in an unpleasant visit to my home by another senior officer. I have found the minutes of that meeting in the archives of Lambeth’s CPCG but no mention is made of the high-ranking officer’s contribution and the tape recording is also missing.” Labour MP John Mann, a former Lambeth councillor, said last night: “It is essential that an outside force conducts a full investigation into these claims.” Mr Driscoll, who has had a distinguished career in the Met for three decades, told how disciplinary proceedings – known as a →regulation 15 notice or a 163 form – were started against him after he named the politicians in a confidential meeting with council officials in the late 90s….He said the action followed a complaint by an executive on the council. The officer was also moved from Lambeth. The detective was investigated and questioned under caution by other officers. Mr Driscoll added: I was handed a 163 form. It was revoked after they moved me and all disciplinary action was dropped.”…Officers traced 200 victims between 1998 to 2003 and the probe secured three convictions. A total of 19 suspects were never identified, fuelling fears a paedophile ring had operated involving men from outside the care system. Michael John Carroll, the former boss of the Angell Road home, was arrested in 1998 by Merseyside police for abuse spanning decades. By that time Ms Tapsell had spent more than 10 years highlighting his case after she discovered Lambeth bosses let him run children’s homes until 1991 despite executives learning in 1986 he was a convicted paedophile. Ms Tapsell told the judge that Carroll, who had not at that point been arrested, was “protected” by Lambeth social services bosses along with paedophile Les Paul who worked in South Vale. Paul was jailed for two and a half years in 1994 for abusing three boys including one from the children’s home. Ms Tapsell wrote: “Les Paul took little boys home and on holiday, just as Carroll did with the full knowledge of area staff. The examples are numerous. Almost all the internal abuse issues have involved collusion across divisions. I have no doubt Angell Road may have been used for organised child abuse which involved adults other than staff. This view is reinforced by the strong investment that officers and politicians have in blocking any effective investigation.”…“ (see also a remark on the underlying event at Spotlight on Abuse, “The Lambeth Police Station ‘Sex Chamber’”.

12 Mar. 2013Metro, Police ‘could have stopped Jimmy Savile’ from abusing children as far back as 1964: ”…The former Top Of The Pops presenter was linked to a report of sexual abuse in 1964 but officers failed to act on it, today’s report by Her Majesty’s Inspectorate of Constabulary reveals. 20 Feb. 2013Justice denied, EDWINA CURRIE KNEW ABOUT VIP PAEDOPHILES HOW MANY MORE OF OUR LAWMAKERS KNEW?: ”…Many children and investigators died in suspicious circumstances. If the police had prosecuted the VIP Paedophiles and Judge Warehouse had not used the Courts power to prevent any mention of the VIP paedophiles this would have been exposed in the 1990's….“

02 Feb. 2013Daily Mail, Timebomb at Elm Guest House: Pop stars, a bishop and a top politician appear on a list seized by police investigating child abuse at the London hotel in the 1980s: ”…Eighteen years after his death, the police are again looking at the Peter Hatton-Bornshin case, as part of a wider investigation, launched last month, into allegations that in the early Eighties a paedophile ring of VIPs preyed on boys from the Grafton Close Children’s Home. If the historic allegations at the heart of Operation Fernbridge are proved, they would represent one of the more sensational and disturbing Establishment sex scandals of the modern era. Long-existing allegations of a cover-up would again have to be aired. During a police raid on a property in central London last month, detectives seized a list of names of high-profile alleged visitors to the Elm Guest House in Barnes, South-West London — a gay-friendly establishment, and one where under-age rent boys and children from the Grafton Close home were reportedly brought to have sex with adult men. The list includes a number of senior MPs, a high-ranking policeman, a leading tycoon, figures from the National Front and Sinn Fein, an official of the Royal Household, an MI5 officer, two pop stars and the traitorous Soviet spy Anthony Blunt. Cyril Smith, the late Liberal MP for Rochdale, has already been named as a regular at the guest house, where he allegedly met teenage rent boys when the homosexual age of consent was 21. The guest house has also been linked to a now-defunct Tory fringe group that promoted homosexual rights…..But Righton, then aged 66, was no ordinary child sex offender. He had been a very senior and respected figure in the field of residential child care, and a former consultant to the charity the National Children’s Bureau, whose patrons included the then Health Minister, Virginia Bottomley. After his conviction, it emerged that Righton was a founder member of the Paedophile Information Exchange — a contact group for men interested in sex with children. He is now believed to be dead. Westminster sources say that following his intervention in the House, Mr Watson received more than 200 phone calls, many of them from alleged victims of paedophile abuse by public figures unconnected with Righton. The MP passed the information on to the police. Righton’s links to figures in the Thatcher government are still being assessed by detectives….“

18 Jan. 2013Real Whitby, Savile/Jaconelli/Corrigan paedophile ring: NYP cover-up continues: “The series of articles we have run on Jimmy Savile has identified that Savile appears to have operated in Scarborough and Whitby in a paedophile-ring comprising himself, Mr Peter Jaconelli (Councillor and a Mayor of Scarborough, local business man who owned a string of ice cream parlours in Scarborough and along with Savile visited Whitby,) and Mr Jimmy Corrigan (local businessman who owned arcades in Scarborough)…”

12 Jan. 2013Express, Hospitals and police face huge law suits:“SAVILE’S victims were last night lining up to sue his £4.2million estate – as well as hospitals, local authorities, charities, the police and the BBC…A spokesman for law firm Slater & Gordon, which is representing 50 victims, said: “When the BBC, Stoke Mandeville and Leeds Infirmary have all launched inquiries, why is the Home Office failing to review how abuses went unchecked at Duncroft for so long?”

12 Jan. 2013Express, Scandal of Jimmy Savile's 50 years of sex abuse: “Former Top Of The Pops presenter Savile preyed on at least 450 victims at schools, hospitals and at other venues including a hospice and the BBC TV Centre. Using his celebrity status and the popularity of shows such as Jim’ll Fix It, the paedophile gained access to victims and committed horrific crimes at will, a report revealed yesterday. Savile hoodwinked his bosses, hospital and school officials and millions of viewers and listeners to gain almost saint-like status. Commander Peter Spindler, who led Scotland Yard’s £450,000 inquiry, said: “He groomed the nation.”…His earliest recorded offence was in 1955 and the latest in 2009, when he was 82. He died in 2011.Police recorded 214 crimes across 28 forces from Avon and Somerset to Northumbria. The peak of the offending was from 1966 to 1976….But detectives mishandled the investigations…Solicitors said they had not ruled out suing the police. Mr Spindler, head of Operation Yewtree, said the report “paints a stark picture emphasising the tragic consequences of when vulnerability and power collide”. He went on: “Savile’s offending footprint was vast, predatory and opportunistic. He cannot face justice today but we hope this report gives some comfort to his hundreds of victims, they have been listened to and taken seriously. We must use the learning from these shocking events to prevent other children and vulnerable adults being abused.”David Cameron’s spokesman said he believes it “is absolutely right” that every institution involved investigates “what has gone wrong”….Savile preyed on victims at the BBC TV Centre Shepherd’s Bush, west London, Leeds General Infirmary, and Stoke Mandeville Hospital, Buckinghamshire, where he had a flat. He committed crimes at Duncroft School children’s home in Surrey, his Scottish holiday cottage at Glencoe, and Broadmoor secure hospital, Berkshire, where he also had a flat. The offences cover the period when Savile worked at the BBC between 1965 and 2006 and include allegations linked to the final recording of Top Of The Pops. At least 14 reviews and inquires have been launched into Savile’s activities….One of Savile’s last honours – the freedom of Scarborough, where he had a second home – is to be posthumously revoked following the report.”

15 Jan. 2013CharlesFrithBlog, Jimmy Savile - Royal Insider - Child Provider - MI5 Asset: ”…We also know from the unparalleled intimacy that Jimmy Savile had with Downing Street and Buckingham Palace that his security clearance was as high as it can possibly be. Eleven consecutive New Years and Christmases with the Thatchers and a mentor relationship with Prince Charles as well as a mediator role within the Royal Household are concrete proof that MI5 knew everything the BBC management gossiped about for decades and a whole lot more….“ Jimmy Savile was not blackmailed by MI5 Per se. He collaborated with them and the Royal household and Downing Street by trading the information he was intimate with, of the power elite's predatory sexual abuse of young children in exchange for a life of affluence and security. ”

28 Dec. 2012The Independent, Revealed: Jimmy Savile's close friendship with Margaret Thatcher: “…The 21-page dossier released under the 30-year rule by the National Archives shows Savile's extraordinary access to the highest echelons of British society, chronicling lunches and personal letters between Mrs Thatcher and the DJ in the 1980s. They show how Savile curried favour in political circlesBold Text and was granted invitations to Chequers with the then Prime Minister. Savile, who was invited on the basis of his fundraising for Stoke Mandeville Hospital in Buckinghamshire, where it has subsequently been suggested he also carried out abuse, wrote a letter of effusive thanks to Mrs Thatcher after one lunch in 1981….The memo, in which an official asked Mrs Thatcher if she had offered money for the hospital, contains a reply in her handwriting revealing she had promised “personal money”. It adds: “Promised to get government contribution.”…Notes on the file show that several pages were removed and material from other entries deleted for 40 years by officials using exemptions under the Freedom of Information Act on 11 October this year – a week after ITV broadcast a documentary revealing allegations of sexual assault against Savile….The file shows that Savile was also written to personally by Mrs Thatcher a year earlier to assure him that his desire for a change in the covenant system for charities was being given her personal attention. A change along the lines suggested by Savile was eventually included in the Budget. There are six notes throughout the dossier stating that material has been “deleted and closed for a further 40 years under exemptions granted by the FOI act. It is claimed that Savile, who was knighted in 1990 for services to charity, became a regular visitor to Chequers, spending New Year's Eve with the Thatcher family on a number of occasions. …”

08 Nov. 2012Telegraph: David Cameron ambushed with paedophile list by Phillip Schofield on This Morning:“The Prime Minister sounded a warning as he was handed a list of suspected paedophiles on ITV's This Morning programme. He has promised a number of inquiries into “shocking” allegations of child abuse in recent weeks, including claims that a Tory peer raped a boy of 13 in north Wales in the 1970s….Mr Cameron did not look at the list of names and urged anyone who has been abused to contact police. …William Hague, the Foreign Secretary, also promised today to leave “no stone unturned” in the hunt for the truth about the scale of child abuse. He has been accused by one of the alleged victims of “stifling” a previous inquiry into the North Wales abuse by making its remit too narrow….”

07 Nov. 2012The Guardian: Jimmy Savile invited guests to royal party on Prince Charles's behalf: ““He was phoning to invite the producers, one from each station, to go to a cocktail party in Kensington Palace,” Laing said. “He said he was phoning from the prince's office on behalf of Prince Charles. He said he had been asked to organise a get-together as Prince Charles was so pleased with the telethon he wanted to say thank you.” Savile's role, apparently at the heart of Charles's household, was confirmed by a spokesman for the prince. It will increase scrutiny of the heir's dealings with the now disgraced TV star. Savile heavily publicised his closeness to the royals, giving the impression, some observers believe, of approval from the highest stratum of British society that may have helped him to hide his criminal activity “in plain sight”….Clarence House has declined to comment on the scandal surrounding Charles's former friend and has said the relationship was primarily a result of their “shared interest in supporting disability charities”. But the connections appear to go beyond that. At the weekend it was reported that Charles asked Savile for advice over the appointment of a senior aide for him and Princess Diana. They were said to have met Sir Christopher Airy before he was offered the post of the royal couple's private secretary and treasurer in 1990. Last week a former senior royal aide said Savile's behaviour when he visited Charles's official home at St James's Palace was a cause for “concern and suspicion”. Dicky Arbiter, spokesman for the Queen between 1988 and 2000, said Savile used to rub his lips up the arms of Charles's young female assistants as a greeting. In 1999 Charles accepted an invitation to a private meal at Savile's Glencoe home, which last week was daubed with graffiti reading “Jimmy the beast”. Savile asked three local women to dress up in pinafores emblazoned with the letters HRH and Charles subsequently sent the television presenter a Christmas card with the note: “Jimmy, with affectionate greetings from Charles. Give my love to your ladies in Scotland.” Charles reportedly sent him a box of cigars and a pair of gold cufflinks on his 80th birthday with a note that read: “Nobody will ever know what you have done for this country Jimmy. This is to go some way in thanking you for that.”…”

15 Oct. 201221stCenturyWire: ELITE CHILD ABUSE: ‘JIMMY SAVILE… DOORMAN TO THE CESSPIT’: “….Genuine police officers and detectives who sought the truth in the Marc Dutroux child abuse and murder scandal in Belgium in the 1990s found that refusing to cover up the facts is not a good career move for law enforcement personnel if the truth is leading to rich, famous and powerful people and their networks. So it proved again with the Jersey investigation. Both sets of genuine investigators were removed from these cases and any credible ‘investigation’ went with them. Lenny Harper, like his counterpart in the Belgian inquiry, was accused of ‘misconduct’ as a blatant excuse to get rid of him – the allegations were later proved false. Harper’s boss, Jersey police chief Graham Power, was also outrageously suspended and neutralised as part of this. More than a hundred people came forward claiming to have been sexually and violently abused at the Jersey home and Lenny Harper has confirmed that Jimmy Savile’s name came up early in his investigation but with not enough evidence to charge him at the time. Savile denied any knowledge of ever being at the home, but a picture emerged of him at the home to show that he was lying. Highly significantly, the name of Edward Heath, the British Prime Minister between 1970 and 1974, has also emerged in relation to abuse at Haut de la Garenne and to Jimmy Savile…..”

14 Oct. 2012Express, Jimmy Savile silence shames us all: “…Along with these personal testimonies we have seen a stream of celebrity confessionals who have told us that they “sort of knew but didn’t really”; people like Childline founder Esther Rantzen, a former colleague of Savile’s at the BBC and a massive star in the Seventies and Eighties. According to Rantzen, Savile’s obscene predilections had been the subject of “green-room gossip” for years. “Gossip” she chose to do nothing about. So despite setting up a service that succeeded in having Britain recognise and report child abuse, Rantzen failed to act while it was being talked about at the BBC. Neither do I single her out for criticism. Former Savile colleagues including DJ Paul Gambaccini have revealed how they were warned against attending Savile’s parties because of “underage girls present”….Not only did these personalities fail to highlight abuse at our national broadcaster but their silence ensured its continuation. I appreciate that Savile’s popularity and status would have intimidated many. He had friends in high places and he never hesitated to drop names when it came to impressing and cajoling others into satisfying his demands. SAVILE was on first-name terms with popes and members of the Royal family and he once boasted he had spent “11 consecutive Christmases with the Thatchers at Chequers. He surrounded himself quite expertly with figures who lent a respectable veneer to his vile, extensive misdemeanours. It is wrong that he died before he could be brought to justice…”

25 Apr 2012Telegraph, David Cameron was 'pressured into new Madeleine McCann inquiry by News International': “The Prime Minister came under pressure from News International to set up the new inquiry into the disappearance of Madeleine McCann, according to this evening’s BBC Panorama programme - ‘Madeleine: The Last Hope?’ The Home Office has declined to explain why they chose to look again at the unsolved case above any other but a source at Number 10 has said that David Cameron “acted as a sympathetic parent.” In 2011 The Sun printed an open letter on their front page from The McCanns to Mr Cameron, appealing to him as a parent to agree to a review. But tonight Panorama will claim there was also much more going on behind the scenes to try to influence the Prime Minister. Downing Street sources have revealed to the programme that influence was being exerted on Number 10 by News International and by The Sun newspaper, as well as by the McCanns. Within 24 hours of the front page appeal Mr Cameron announced a review could be paid for out of a contingency fund run by the Home Office, reserved for special cases. The review is already understood to have cost £2 million but the detective in charge is publicly optimistic. Detective Chief Inspector Andy Redwood believes his team has the best chance yet of finding out what happened to Madeleine. He tells Panorama tonight: “As a detective, it is a huge privilege to have an opportunity to work on this case. Both my team and I feel that.” BBC Panorama – Madeleine: The Last Hope? will be shown tonight at 7.30pm on BBC One. ”

20 Feb. 2012Charlie Foulkes Blog, Sir Jimmy Savile the Establishment's Favourite Paedophile: “Jimmy Savile had friends in high places and friends in low places. An “everyman”, if you like. He was the glue that held a lot of bad people together. They say a picture is worth a thousand words, so let us look back at the life of Jimmy Savile in photos…”

02 Feb. 2012Wirral Globe, Prime Minister orders investigation following Anna Klonowski report: “THE Prime Minister has promised to look into claims made in the recent Anna Klonowski report. Wirral West MP Esther McVey told David Cameron during PM's questions that the “violence and intimidation” revealed in the report was “shocking.” The Klonowski inquiry looked into the claims of whistleblower Martin Morton, a former Wirral social services employee, who was bullied and forced out of his job after revealing systematic financial abuse of vulnerable people in council care. The council has since apologised to Mr Morton and says it has set in place a series of changes in how the authority works to deal with the problems highlighted by the report….The Prime Minister's pledge comes as Wirral council leader Cllr Steve Foulkes fights for his political life following calls from leaders of both opposition groups for him to be ousted over the fall-out from the Anna Klonowski report. … ”

08 Jan. 2012Truth for Madeleine, Gerry’s Tunnel Vision: “New Year’s Day 2012 kicked in with the gruesome news of the body of a murdered woman found on Royal property at Sandringham in Norfolk, England. The following day I overheard a US television station reporting the story. The American presenter was talking to a reporter in England and he asked how this would affect the Royals. The response was the mind-boggling, “Oh…well, the Royal Family will not come under suspicion.”…..Madeleine dies in the first week of May 2007. Reputations and careers would be in tatters, not to mention jail terms for child abuse and possibly murder. Frantic phone calls and text messages are made back to England and Gerry has his famous “tunnel vision” incident in the church in Praia da Luz. Disclosed later in an interview with Catholic Magazine “The Tablet”, the “tunnel” was his cryptic reference to the Pont de l’Alma tunnel in Paris. Gerry said “I had this mental image of being in a tunnel and instead of the light at the end of the tunnel being extremely narrow and a distant spot, the light opened up…That is when I really felt I had a clear path.””
